I used to, for years, but a couple of years ago, while diving in Sipadan, Malaysia, I was surrounded by sharks, turtles, and a school of bumphead parrotfish, all spinning and swirling around me. In that moment, I realized that I had spent the entire dive looking at my camera screen, trying to capture the perfect shot, instead of living in the moment. That was the last time I took a camera underwater. Since then, I live each interaction to the fullest. It's only afterward, when I surface, that I spend hours sketching the scenes on paper.
